Yes, if you use an eSIM for roaming, data roaming must be switched on in the phone or router.
When connecting to the mobile network, an eSIM works just like an ordinary SIM card. If data roaming is switched off, the device may still show a connection to a mobile network, but the internet does not work properly.
When you use our Europe eSIM, check that mobile data is switched on and that data roaming is enabled for that particular eSIM profile.
If you have several SIMs or eSIMs in the phone, it is also important to check that the right eSIM is selected for mobile data.
Check the roaming setting
Data roaming allows the device to use a mobile network other than the SIM card’s home network. With Wifi.se’s roaming SIMs it normally has to be switched on when the card is used on partner networks. If roaming is switched off, the router may show a signal but still block data traffic.
Important with eSIM
An eSIM is a digital SIM profile and does not work quite like a plastic SIM. So do not delete the profile and do not scan the QR code with another device just to test it. A QR code may be intended for a single installation, and if the old profile is deleted, a new one may need to be ordered.
