When the router searches for mobile networks, it first has to find out which operators are available in the area and then check which networks your roaming SIM can register on.
With manual network selection this can take a little longer, because the router wants to find and show several available operators. Even after you have chosen a network, it can take about a minute before the SIM card has registered and the internet connection is up.
When you travel between different countries or regions, the search can also take longer because the router has to find a new partner network.
So it is best to wait a few minutes before making further changes. If the router still does not connect, restart it or choose another available network.
How network selection works when roaming
When roaming, the device searches for available partner networks. Automatic network selection is normally the first choice, but if the connection does not work, manual network selection can be a good troubleshooting step. Remember: a network that appears in the list does not automatically mean that your SIM is allowed to register on it.
If it still does not work
Check the status of the service and then test one thing at a time. When you contact Wifi.se support, please tell us which router you are using, which SIM/eSIM it concerns, which country you are in and what you have already tested. That way we can start directly with the right troubleshooting step.
