What is an SSID?

SSID is the technical term for the Wi-Fi network’s name. So it is the name you see in the list of available Wi-Fi networks on a phone, computer or TV.

A router can have separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Then you can choose the network that best suits the device.

Tell Wi-Fi and the internet apart

Wi-Fi is the wireless link between your device and the router. The internet in turn reaches the router via the mobile network. A phone or TV can therefore be connected to Wi-Fi even when the router itself has no internet. This difference is important when troubleshooting.

If it still does not work

Check the status of the service and then test one thing at a time. When you contact Wifi.se support, please tell us which router you are using, which SIM/eSIM it concerns, which country you are in and what you have already tested. That way we can start directly with the right troubleshooting step.
