If the Hybrid Traveller shows no signal, the colour can help you see where the problem lies.
If the signal is black, the router usually does not detect the SIM card properly. Then check that the SIM card is the right way round and that you are using the right size, a nano SIM.
If the signal is red, the router detects the SIM card, but it has not got a working connection to the mobile network. Then check that the SIM card is active, that there is data left and that data roaming is switched on if you are using a roaming SIM.
It is best to restart the router after checking the SIM card. If the signal is still red, you can test the SIM card in a phone with Wi-Fi switched off and mobile data and roaming switched on.
Placement can make a big difference
Try the router in several places, preferably in the open and near a window. The motorhome’s metal body, insulation and other obstacles can weaken the radio signal. Just a few metres away, the router may use a different frequency or a different mast and give a noticeably better result.
Good to know about the Hybrid Traveller
The Hybrid Traveller receives the internet over 4G/5G and then shares the connection as its own Wi-Fi network. So two different things can affect the result: the mobile reception at the router and the Wi-Fi signal between the router and your devices. When you have problems, it is worth checking both separately.
