I have Wi-Fi but no internet

If you can connect to the Hybrid Traveller’s Wi-Fi but still cannot get online, the Wi-Fi part is working, but the router has no working connection to the mobile network.

First check that the SIM card or eSIM is active and that there is data left in the plan. If you use a roaming SIM, data roaming must be switched on.

Then restart the router and wait a minute or a few minutes while it searches for a mobile network again.

If the problem persists, you can also check the connection in the router’s web interface or in the Hybrid Traveller app. When roaming, you can try manual network selection and test a different operator.

With a physical SIM card you can also test it in a phone. Switch off Wi-Fi and switch on mobile data and roaming. If the internet works in the phone but not in the router, the problem is probably the router’s settings or connection.

Check this first

  1. Check that the SIM/eSIM is active and that the data package still has data left.
  2. Restart the router or device and wait a few minutes for it to register on the network again.
  3. If you are abroad: check that data roaming is switched on.
  4. With a physical SIM card: if needed, test it in a phone with Wi-Fi off and mobile data on.
  5. If the SIM card works in the phone but not in the router, check the router settings, the SIM slot and, if needed, the APN.

Step by step

  1. Check that the SIM/eSIM is active and that the data package has not run out.
  2. If you are abroad: check that data roaming is switched on.
  3. Restart the router and wait a few minutes so that it can register on the mobile network.
  4. If possible, test a physical SIM card in a phone with Wi-Fi switched off.
  5. If the SIM card works in the phone but not in the router, continue with the router settings, the APN and the network selection.

Good to know about the Hybrid Traveller

The Hybrid Traveller receives the internet over 4G/5G and then shares the connection as its own Wi-Fi network. So two different things can affect the result: the mobile reception at the router and the Wi-Fi signal between the router and your devices. When you have problems, it is worth checking both separately.
