An IP address is the address used to identify an internet connection or device on a network.
There are both local IP addresses and public IP addresses. Websites can use the public IP address to estimate which country the connection comes from.
When roaming, the country of the IP address does not have to be the country you are in. That is why some services may sometimes think you are in another country.
Two types of IP address
In a home or router network, your devices usually have private IP addresses that are only used locally. At the same time, the router has a connection to the mobile operator’s network. When you open the router’s web interface, you normally use a local IP address and therefore need to be connected to the router’s Wi-Fi or LAN.
Do not change more than necessary
Router settings such as APN, DNS, network mode and VPN can affect the whole internet connection. So change one setting at a time and note the original value before you change anything. Then you can easily go back if the result gets worse.
If it still does not work
Check the status of the service and then test one thing at a time. When you contact Wifi.se support, please tell us which router you are using, which SIM/eSIM it concerns, which country you are in and what you have already tested. That way we can start directly with the right troubleshooting step.
