Yes. If you use a Europe roaming SIM, data roaming must be switched on in the router, phone or device the SIM card is in.
Why is roaming needed?
The roaming SIM connects to different mobile operators’ networks depending on the country. If roaming is switched off, the device can therefore have reception and still no internet.
If the internet does not work
Check:
- that the data package is active
- that data roaming is switched on
- that the SIM card is inserted correctly
- that the router has contact with the mobile network
If you are unsure, test the SIM card in a phone with mobile data and data roaming switched on and Wi-Fi switched off.
Good to know about the roaming SIM
A roaming SIM connects to partner operators in the countries included in the package. Which mobile network is used can therefore vary from place to place. Data roaming normally needs to be switched on, and in some situations manual network selection can help if the automatic choice has got stuck on a weak or unavailable network.
