Do I need to restart at the border?

No, you normally do not need to restart the router when you cross a national border.

The router automatically searches for a new partner network in the country you are entering and connects to it. But it can take a few minutes before the connection is back.

If the internet does not start again, you can restart the router. Also check that data roaming is switched on and that network selection is set to Auto.

If it still does not work, choose another operator manually in the router’s network settings.

How network selection works when roaming

When roaming, the device searches for available partner networks. Automatic network selection is normally the first choice, but if the connection does not work, manual network selection can be a good troubleshooting step. Remember: a network that appears in the list does not automatically mean that your SIM is allowed to register on it.

If it still does not work

Check the status of the service and then test one thing at a time. When you contact Wifi.se support, please tell us which router you are using, which SIM/eSIM it concerns, which country you are in and what you have already tested. That way we can start directly with the right troubleshooting step.
