What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM card. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you install a digital SIM profile on a compatible phone, tablet or router.

The profile contains the information the device needs to identify itself on the mobile network. Installation is usually done with a QR code or an app.

Important with eSIM

  • The device must support eSIM.
  • Do not scan the QR code with the wrong device just to test it.
  • Do not delete a working eSIM profile if you do not know whether it can be installed again.
  • When roaming, data roaming normally has to be switched on.

Important with eSIM

An eSIM is a digital SIM profile and does not work quite like a plastic SIM. So do not delete the profile and do not scan the QR code with another device just to test it. A QR code may be intended for a single installation, and if the old profile is deleted, a new one may need to be ordered.
