Why does it work differently well at different campsites?

The Hybrid Traveller uses the mobile network, just like a phone. That is why speed and signal strength can vary between different campsites and places.

How well the connection works depends on, among other things:

  • the operator’s coverage where you are
  • the distance to the nearest mobile mast
  • the number of people using the mobile network at the same time
  • terrain, buildings, trees and other obstacles
  • the network the SIM card connects to
  • whether 5G or 4G is available where you are

Many users in the same place

At larger campsites the mobile network can be more heavily loaded, especially in the evening and in high season. The speed may then be lower even if the signal looks good.

So this does not necessarily mean that something is wrong with the router.

Move the router

Placement can make a big difference. It is best to place the Hybrid Traveller:

  • near a window
  • higher up
  • on another side of the motorhome or caravan
  • a little away from other electronic devices

It is best to restart the router after moving it so that it can reconnect.

If the signal is red

If the SIGNAL light is red, the router is not getting proper contact with the mobile network. Then check the SIM card, the roaming setting and whether the data package is active.

If you need help, contact Wifi.se support and tell us the campsite or place where you are and which lights are on on the router.
