We usually recommend leaving the Hybrid Traveller on Auto. The router then automatically chooses between 4G and 5G depending on which network works best where you are.
When can you choose 4G or 5G manually?
In some areas the 5G signal can be weak or unstable even though 5G is available. Then it sometimes works better to choose 4G temporarily.
If, on the other hand, you have good 5G coverage, 5G can offer higher speed and more capacity.
Our recommendation
Always start with Auto.
If you have problems, you can test:
- 4G if the 5G signal is weak or the connection keeps jumping between networks
- 5G if you know there is good 5G coverage where you are
- back to Auto if you are unsure
Remember that the best choice can vary between campsites, places and countries, as the coverage and load of the mobile networks differ.
