It sometimes loses the network.

Wifi Extreme is a more permanent solution on a 5G router platform with an external roof antenna. Always check the power, an active SIM, data, roaming and that the antenna cables are on the right connectors according to Wifi.se’s picture guide before changing advanced settings.

Check this first

  1. Check that the SIM/eSIM is active and that the data package still has data left.
  2. Restart the router or device and wait a few minutes for it to register on the network again.
  3. If you are abroad: check that data roaming is switched on.
  4. With a physical SIM card: if needed, test it in a phone with Wi-Fi off and mobile data on.
  5. If the SIM card works in the phone but not in the router, check the router settings, the SIM slot and, if needed, the APN.

Test before you change settings

  1. Place the router somewhere more open, preferably higher up and near a window.
  2. Run several speed tests at different times of day.
  3. Compare 4G/5G Auto with another network mode if your router supports it.
  4. Check whether the problem affects all devices or only, for example, the TV.

If the problem mainly occurs in the evening, heavy load on the mobile network may play an important role.

Good to know

Wifi Extreme is a more advanced router solution where the mobile network, antennas, APN and network selection can be set in more detail. Always start with the basic checks before changing advanced settings, because a wrong APN, manual network selection or a badly connected antenna cable can stop the internet completely.
