Yes. You can use smart home devices with our routers, as long as the devices can connect to Wi-Fi and the internet connection is stable.
For example:
- smart lights
- heat pumps
- thermostats
- sensors
- smart plugs
- surveillance cameras
- doorbells and alarm systems
Many smart home devices use 2.4 GHz
Many smart home products only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
So if the device cannot find the router’s network or cannot be set up, check that the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is enabled, and connect the phone to the same 2.4 GHz network during setup.
Does the router have to be on all the time?
Yes, if you want to control or check your smart home devices remotely, the router must be switched on and have a working internet connection.
Does it work with mobile internet?
Most modern smart home systems use the manufacturer’s app or cloud service and normally work well over 4G or 5G.
But some more advanced systems need special network settings, a public IP address or port forwarding. This is not always supported on mobile networks. So it is best to check the manufacturer’s requirements.
