Can I change the Wi-Fi name?

Yes. You can change the name of the Wi-Fi network in the router’s settings.

The Wi-Fi name is often called the SSID.

Do this

  1. Connect to the router’s Wi-Fi.
  2. Open the router’s web interface.
  3. Go to the settings for WiFi / Wireless / WLAN.
  4. Change the network name, the SSID.
  5. Save the settings.

After the change, the router may restart or disconnect the Wi-Fi for a short time.

Keep the following in mind

If you change the Wi-Fi name, your devices need to connect again to the new network name.

If the router has separate networks for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, you can also give them different names so that it is easier to see which network you are connecting to.

A factory reset returns the Wi-Fi name to the router’s default setting.

The internet reaches the router via the mobile network. A phone or TV can therefore be connected to the Wi-Fi even when the router itself has no internet. This difference is important when troubleshooting.
