The roof antenna should be mounted where it has as clear a view as possible and is not shielded by large metal parts or other equipment on the roof.
On a motorhome or caravan the roof is often the best place, because the antenna is then outside the vehicle’s structure.
Think about the position
For the best result the antenna should:
- be mounted as openly as possible
- not be right next to large metal parts
- if possible be placed at a distance from air conditioning, solar panels and other electronics
- be mounted so that the cables can be run to the router without unnecessarily long routes
- be firmly mounted and well sealed against water
Plan the cable routing first
Before you drill or mount the antenna, you should decide where the router will go and how the cables will be run through the vehicle.
As a roof antenna requires a permanent installation, it is important that the mounting is done carefully and that the roof feed-through is properly sealed.
If you are unsure about the installation, we recommend having the work done by someone with experience of antenna or motorhome installations.
