How much data Microsoft Teams and Zoom use depends on whether you use audio, video or screen sharing and the video quality of the meeting.
Approximate data usage:
- Audio only: about 50–100 MB per hour
- Video call in normal quality: about 0.5–1 GB per hour
- HD video: about 1–2 GB per hour
- Group meetings with several video streams: can use 2 GB or more per hour
Want to save data?
You can reduce data usage by:
- switching off the camera when you do not need it
- avoiding HD video
- switching off incoming video if the connection is weak
- using audio only in longer meetings
Remember that both download and upload are used in a video meeting, as you both receive and send sound and picture.
