No, Wifi Extreme does not need a roof antenna to work. It comes with antennas that can be used directly with the router.
If you want to improve reception further, other external antennas can also be connected, for example:
- patch antennas
- external mobile antennas
- a roof antenna
When is a roof antenna a good idea?
A roof antenna can be a good choice if the router is used permanently, for example in a motorhome or caravan, and you want the antenna to be outside the vehicle.
Remember that a roof antenna must be permanently installed, as the antenna is mounted on the vehicle roof and cables have to be run to the router.
For many users the included antennas are perfectly sufficient. In places with a weak mobile signal, an external antenna solution can be an alternative.

Wifi Extreme is a more advanced router solution where the mobile network, antennas, APN and network selection can be set in more detail. Always start with the basic checks before changing advanced settings, because a wrong APN, manual network selection or a badly connected antenna cable can stop the internet completely.
