If you only get 4G, first check whether your router supports 5G at all. A 4G router cannot connect to 5G, even if the SIM card and the mobile network support it.
This is especially noticeable in Germany, for example, where 4G in some areas can be both slower and more heavily loaded than 5G. The connection can then feel unstable, especially when streaming, in video calls or when several devices are online at the same time.
For travel in Europe we therefore recommend a 5G router. It gives much better conditions for a fast and stable connection when 5G is available.
Also remember that the network type you get depends on the local operator, the coverage where you are and the load on the mobile network.
Good to know about the roaming SIM
A roaming SIM connects to partner operators in the countries included in the package. Which mobile network is used can therefore vary from place to place. Data roaming normally needs to be switched on, and in some situations manual network selection can help if the automatic choice has got stuck on a weak or unavailable network.
