Yes, we recommend testing your roaming SIM before you leave.
Insert the SIM card in the router or device you want to use and check that the SIM card is active and that data roaming is switched on. That way you will notice any problems before your trip starts.
If the SIM card does not work straight away, you can also test it in a phone. Switch on mobile data and roaming, switch off Wi-Fi and check whether you can get online.
Troubleshooting is always easier at home before you leave than on the road.
Check the roaming setting
Data roaming allows the device to use a mobile network other than the SIM card’s home network. With Wifi.se’s roaming SIMs it normally has to be switched on when the card is used on partner networks. If roaming is switched off, the router may show a signal but still block data traffic.
Good to know about the roaming SIM
A roaming SIM connects to partner operators in the countries included in the package. Which mobile network is used can therefore vary from place to place. Data roaming normally needs to be switched on, and in some situations manual network selection can help if the automatic choice has got stuck on a weak or unavailable network.
