5G router

5G has gradually spread more and more, especially in cities where there is really good coverage with the fast mobile data network. The 5G network is continuously improving, and for many, it can be a good alternative to a wired internet connection.

5G is the latest standard for data transfer via mobile operators’ towers. To access the 5G network, you need a 5G phone and a 5G subscription with your operator. If you want to use the 5G network for all devices in your home to access the internet, you should look for a 5G router.

A 5G router is a wireless router designed to use fifth-generation wireless network technology, which supports higher speeds and better performance than previous wireless networks. 5G routers often come with features like wireless security support, multi-device support, and support for various types of wireless networks.

A 5G router for mobile broadband is a router that connects via the mobile network, a “mobile router,” which connects to the mobile network. All you need is a 5G router and a SIM card. A mobile router allows multiple local users to connect to the mobile broadband via Wi-Fi or cable.

In the short term, 5G may meet the increased demand for capacity in mobile networks and improved mobile broadband. This means enabling higher capacity and faster data speeds for the mobile broadband services we already use in today’s 4G networks. It could also lead to further local trials with new services, such as manufacturing automation and support for autonomous vehicles.

In the longer term, more improvements may come, such as lower network latency, better capabilities for error-free message transmission within a set time, and better possibilities for customizing services for individual customers and applications. This could open up new applications like industrial automation, remote control of vehicles/vessels such as trucks, machines, and drones, as well as entirely new, yet unknown, applications.

According to our tests, a 5G router provides the following speeds: The speed also greatly depends on whether you are using Wi-Fi or a cable. However, these speeds should be achievable via Wi-Fi:

  • 400 Mbps for download
  • 150 Mbps for upload

Wifi.se will soon offer the new Wifi Extreme 5G router. Communication over 5G and dual SIM cards, combined with five Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual-band Wi-Fi, enables reliable data transfer with extremely low latency. Wifi.se will also offer a self-manufactured 5G router at a lower price. We have developed this ourselves over the course of a year.

There is a significant difference in 5G speeds, depending on your equipment and your location relative to the nearest antenna. We have measured speeds over 400 megabits per second, and the 5G network is constantly being expanded, so we expect even faster transfers in the coming years.

However, there are some disadvantages to 5G routers. They are still very expensive, and the components and modules are costly. 5G coverage is limited to a few areas where 5G works. It will take many years before 5G is available everywhere in Sweden.
