What does GPS mean?

GPS stands for Global Positioning System and is used to determine the geographical position of a device.

On a combined roof antenna, the cable labelled GPS is intended for the antenna’s GPS function.

What is GPS used for?

If the router supports GPS, the function can be used, among other things, to:

  • see the device’s position
  • use location services
  • track where a vehicle or router is

GPS is not used for the internet connection itself and does not affect the speed on 4G or 5G.

If you only use the router for the internet, the GPS function is therefore normally not needed.
