Europe SIM
Here you will find our data roaming SIM for you who will be travelling in Europe. Perfect for a motorhome, caravan, boat or holiday – with surfing in several European countries without having to change SIMs during the trip.
What is Europe SIM?
Europa SIM is a data roaming SIM for those who need internet when travelling in Europe. The SIM card can be used in, for example, a router, mobile or other compatible device.
How long is the data package valid for?
The data package applies in 30 days from activation date. So it is not a calendar month.
When do you activate Europa SIM?
Activation takes place manually on weekdays between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
We do not activate SIM cards on evenings or weekends.
If you have selected a start date, we will normally activate the SIM card on that day during our activation hours.
Can I choose which date the SIM card should be activated?
No, it is not possible to select a future activation date. The SIM card is activated when the order and payment are registered. Activation only takes place on weekdays between 11.00 and 17.00 and not on weekends. Orders received after 16.00 is normally activated the following weekday.
Can you activate my SIM on a Saturday or Sunday?
No. Our Europa SIMs are activated manually on weekdays between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you are going to travel during the weekend, we recommend that the activation is done on Friday at the latest.
In which countries does Europa SIM work?
Which countries are included depends on which data package you have chosen. Check the country list for each package before the trip.
Does data roaming have to be activated?
Yes. Data roaming must be activated in the router, mobile phone or the device where the SIM card is used.
Without roaming activated, you may not have an internet connection abroad.
Can I use Europa SIM in my own router?
Yes. Europa SIM works in most unlocked 4G and 5G routers.
For travel in Europe, we recommend one 5G router for best stability and performance.
Why do you recommend a 5G router in Europe?
Mobile networks in Europe are developing rapidly and older 4G routers may experience poorer stability, lower speed or problems when connecting to different operators’ networks.
A modern 5G router has better support for today’s mobile networks and normally provides a more stable connection during the journey.
Does Wifi.se provide support on 4G router in Europe?
We no longer provide technical support on 4G routers when using our Europa SIMs.
We recommend a 5G router for a more stable and modern connection in Europe.
What do I do if Europe SIM doesn’t work?
First test the SIM card in a mobile phone:
• Activate mobile data.
• Enable data roaming.
• Turn off WiFi in the mobile phone.
• Check that the PIN code is switched off.
If the internet works in the mobile phone, you can put the SIM card back in the router and restart it.
Which SIM slot should I use in the router?
If your router has two SIM slots, we normally recommend SIM slot 1.
Should the PIN code be activated?
We recommend that the PIN is switched off when the SIM card is used in a router.
How do I see how much data I’ve used?
You can follow your SIM and your data consumption via My Pages.
Data consumption is not always displayed in real time. The information is normally updated on weekdays and the weekend’s consumption can therefore only be shown on Monday.
Can I buy more data if I run out of data?
No, it is not possible to buy more data on a SIM card that is already active before the current period has expired. When ordering Europa SIM, we always ship with two SIM cards, so if the data runs out, the second SIM card can be activated with a new data package. An already active SIM card can also be extended with a new 30-day period when the current period expires.
Do you have data packages with extra data in Spain?
Yes. We offer Spain Special for those who spend a lot of time in Spain.
The packages include data for Europe and extra data for use in Spain.
Can I use the Europa SIM in a motorhome or caravan?
Yes. Europa SIM is very suitable for motorhomes, caravans, boats and other mobile internet solutions when travelling through Europe.
Can I stream TV with Europa SIM?
Yes. You can use the Europa SIM for streaming, surfing, work and other common internet services.
Keep in mind that streaming in high picture quality can use a lot of data.
Why do some streaming services think I’m in another country?
Europa SIM uses roaming between different European mobile operators. Your internet traffic may therefore receive an IP address that is registered in a different country than the one in which you are located.
This is normal and does not mean that there is something wrong with the SIM card.
Do I get a Swedish IP address with Europa SIM?
No, you do not normally get a Swedish IP address with Europa SIM. The IP address is controlled by the network and roaming solution used.
Your IP address may therefore appear as Belgian, Spanish or from another European country. If you need a Swedish IP address, you can use a VPN service with a Swedish server.
What is an IP address?
An IP address is the address that your internet connection uses on the internet. Websites and streaming services can use it to estimate which country your connection is from.
With a roaming SIM, the country of the IP address therefore does not have to be the same country in which you are physically located.
Can I use VPN with Europa SIM?
Yes. You can use VPN together with Europa SIM.
A VPN can be used, for example, if you need a Swedish IP address or want to connect via a server in a certain country.
We normally recommend using the VPN directly on the mobile, computer, tablet or streaming device.
Can I install the VPN directly in the router?
On some routers it is possible to install a VPN client directly in the router.
However, the VPN in the router can affect the speed. For best performance, we normally recommend using the VPN directly on the device where it is needed.
Why can the speed vary between different countries?
Europa SIM uses local mobile networks during the trip. The speed is therefore affected by operator, coverage, load, location, network technology and which router or device you use.
Do I need to change my SIM card when I cross a country border?
No. If the country is included in your data package, you can continue to use the same SIM card.
The router or mobile normally automatically connects to an available local mobile network. Data roaming must be activated.
Can I watch Swedish TV when I’m in Europe?
Yes, most paid services and streaming services also work when you are in Europe. However, some Swedish services, such as SVT Play, may require a Swedish IP address for all content. If the service blocks content because of your IP address, you need to use a VPN service and connect to a Swedish server.
What is VPN?
A VPN service allows you to connect to the internet through a server in another country. For example, if you connect to a Swedish VPN server, you normally get a Swedish IP address, which may be needed for some Swedish streaming services.
Do I need VPN to use Europa SIM?
No. Europa SIM works without VPN. VPN is only needed if, for example, you want to:
- get a Swedish IP address
- use a service that requires you to be in Sweden
- access certain Swedish streaming content
Can I use VPN with Europa SIM?
Yes. We normally recommend using the VPN directly in:
- the mobile phone
- the computer
- the tablet
- the streaming device
VPN directly in the router can affect the speed.
Which VPN should I use?
You can use an established VPN service that offers Swedish servers. Check that the service supports:
- the device you want to use
- Swedish servers
- the streaming service you want to watch
How much data do I need?
How much data you need depends on how you use the internet. Streaming TV, movies and series use the most data. As a benchmark, it takes approx 1-3GB per hour when streaming, depending on image quality and resolution.
- 100GB – suitable for normal surfing, e-mail and some streaming.
- 200-300 GB – suitable for those who stream regularly during the trip.
- 500GB – suitable for those who stream a lot or have several devices connected.
Keep in mind that higher image quality, such as HD, uses more data. If you have several people streaming at the same time, the data is also used faster.
Does Europe SIM have a daily data limit?
No, our Europe SIMs do not normally have a fixed daily data limit. You use data from the total amount included in your data package during the validity period.
How quickly the data is consumed depends on how you use the internet. Streaming, video meetings and downloads use significantly more data than normal surfing and e-mail.
Can I use all the data in one day?
Yes, there is normally no fixed limit on how much of the data package you can use per day. Therefore, if you use a lot of data in a short period of time, the entire data package may run out before the 30 days are up.
Is there a Fair Use limit?
The data package applies according to the conditions of the current SIM card and operator. For normal use, you use the amount of data included in your package during the validity period.
In case of very high or unusual usage, the operator’s own network and roaming conditions may affect the service.
Can the operator reduce the speed if I use a lot of data?
The speed may vary depending on the operator, coverage, load in the mobile network and which network technology is available at the location.
In case of very high usage, the operator’s own conditions can also affect the speed. Wifi.se cannot therefore guarantee a certain speed throughout the period.
What happens if I use all the data before 30 days are up?
If all the data in the data package runs out before the 30 days have passed, it is not possible to top up more data in the same active period.
When ordering Europa SIM, we always send with two SIM cards. If the data runs out, you can therefore activate the other SIM card with a new data package.
Can I share the internet from the mobile with the hotspot?
Yes, you can normally use the SIM card in a compatible mobile and share the internet via hotspot.
Keep in mind that multiple connected devices can cause data consumption to increase faster.
Can multiple devices use the same Europa SIM?
Yes. If the SIM card is in a router, several mobile phones, computers, tablets, TVs and other devices can connect via WiFi at the same time.
How many devices work well at the same time depends on the router, the coverage and what the devices are used for.
