The EU Commission has developed informative web pages that outline the rules for each country.
Motorhome in Europe – Things to remember before your road trip:
- Don’t forget your passport and driver’s license!
- Passport and driver’s license: Swedish driver’s licenses are valid in EU countries. In other countries, an international driver’s license is required.
- Make sure the vehicle is well-serviced and that the registration certificate accompanies you on your trip. Keep it among your important documents, not in the glove compartment.
- S-mark on the back of the vehicle: If your registration plate has an EU flag, no separate S-mark is needed.
- Check your insurance coverage. “Green card” to show that you have valid car insurance. It is not mandatory, but helpful in case of an accident. Order the green card from your insurance company.
- Order the European Health Insurance Card, which is free and valid for three years.
- First-aid kit, reflective vest, and extra bulbs. Mandatory in some European countries.
- Road atlas, such as Motormännens Europe Road Atlas, plus GPS and possibly a guidebook.
