No. Wi-Fi and the internet are not the same thing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wi-Fi is the wireless network the router creates between itself and your devices. The internet is the actual connection to the outside world.<\/p>\n

The router gets the internet via 4G or 5G from the mobile network<\/strong>, for example. It then shares it over Wi-Fi with phones, computers, TVs and other devices.<\/p>\n

So your phone or computer can show that it is connected to Wi-Fi<\/strong> even if the router has no working internet connection.<\/p>\n
